A golden rule to keep in mind when you are ordering stationery (office supplies) is that you should always keep an extra item of stationery in your stationery supply cupboard.  For example, if you are using a pen, make sure that you have an extra one in the supply cupboard/press.  As soon as you take the spare from your supply cupboard, make a note to place an order for more.  Imagine not keeping spares of the printer ink cartridges.. ... all printing would need to go on hold - a definite no-no in the office.
