Hint of the Week
An organized office starts with an organized desk:
That may sound obvious, but it is the rule most people break. A
cluttered desk will affect your productivity, so it makes sense to
organize your desk before you attempt to organize the filing cabinets,
the shelves or anything else in your office. You only have limited
desk space, so every bit of it counts. Items kept on your desk
should be those that you use throughout the day (e.g. pencils,
calculator, stapler, etc.). You don't want these items scattered
all over the desk, so buy a tray with compartments to store these items,
or if funds are limited simply put them in large mouth jam jars.
Any other items that are not used regularly should be stored elsewhere
(not on your desk). To avoid paper mountains from forming all over
the desk, place an inbox and outbox on your desk or within arms reach,
and use them.
