Diligent Office Hands

When is it acceptable to lie for your boss?

1 Peter 3v10-12: "For, whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.  He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.

Have you ever been asked to lie in your job?  Maybe you boss said that you are to tell people he is not in the office while he sits at his desk?  Maybe you think that a 'white lie' isn't as bad as a 'black lie', especially if you are being ordered to tell that 'white lie'.

Being dishonest, even when instructed to do so by a superior, is lying (and is "deceitful speech"), and it does not matter how big the lie is - if you don't tell the truth you are lying.  Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.  If Jesus is the truth and the opposite of truth is lies, how can we condone it?

One of the ten commandments is: "thou  shalt not lie". Ask God to help you in your job and to make a way that you will not need to lie.  God will turn the situation around so you won't be placed in the position to compromise! Remember that God cannot lie - He only speaks the truth.  Let us try to live a life that pleases Him in every situation, and in return be rewarded with "good days".
